Laptop donations to support local charity
CHC, in collaboration with Morris & Spottiswood, CR Reynolds and GRAHAM Construction recently completed a social value project for Wirral Ark – a charity which for over 30 years has been uniting businesses, communities and local government to courageously tackle homelessness in every form across the Wirral. The project was undertaken in relation to its appointment to the Procure Partnerships framework.
The group agreed that they would focus on a digital and/or social inclusion theme on the Wirral, Birkenhead area, as this is regarded to be less affluent than the Liverpool city region. The decision to support Wirral Ark was unanimous and after liaising with Mike Westcott, the Charity’s Coordinator, it was agreed that to create the most meaningful impact to the organisation and their service users, each member of the group would each purchase the same laptop which would be beneficial to the organisation.
Each Wirral Ark client would be able to use these laptops to help them with online resourcing/ information/opportunities giving individuals access to employability/employment, housing options, Health & Wellbeing services along with support from Wirral Ark advisors. We each purchased and donated a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Intel Core i3 8GB RAM 256GB SSD 16 Inch Chromebook providing four laptops totalling £1,756.
The below image shows Neil Stewart, CHC and Louise Seddon, GRAHAM Construction handing over laptops to Wirral Ark’s Mike Westcott, with the help of Big Ted and Little Ted – Wirral Ark’s new mascots and faces of their homelessness campaign which will be aiming to educate school children about the effects of homelessness and acceptance of people impacted by it.

“Thank you so much, I can confirm we received all of your generous donations of laptops, these will make a massive difference for our residents and their ability to get online, improve their skills and continue their journey out of homelessness. We really appreciate all the effort and support you have shown to Wirral Ark.” Mike Westcott, Wirral Ark Co-ordinator
