Due to our on-going development, we are seeking to recruit the following professionals:


Location: Head Office - Bury

Role: The Quantity Surveyor will assist in the day to day financial management of allocated contracts, including procurement, monitoring and payment of nominated subcontractors. You will join an established team of Quantity Surveyors and report to the Commercial Manager.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Managing monthly cost reports, as well as forecasting cost and value accurately from commencement of a project through to completion of the project on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Submission of interim and final valuations promptly
  • Review contract progress and be proactive in addressing issues, including the issuing of relevant notices as required
  • Review all issues including providing solutions, costs and advice to ensure successful project completion
  • Ensure cash flow is maintained and provide early forecasting of any short fall
  • The procurement, placement of orders, payment, monitoring and review of subcontractors
  • Agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors


Skills/Experience: The successful applicant will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is commercially aware and contractually astute. They will be conversant in the NEC Suite of Contracts; FIDIC, ICC and JCT contracts. 


They will also be an excellent team player who is capable of working individually with a demonstrable track record of successful commercial management of civil engineering projects including major earthworks and Balance of Plant for onshore wind farms.

Location: Head Office - Bury

Role: The organisation of the maintenance and hire of all Plant and equipment

Would you like to work for CHC? Have knowledge of  Caterpillar and Volvo Machines? 

We're currently looking for a Trainee Plant Maintenance & Support Manager to join our Company.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Organising the Maintenance and Servicing of the Plant fleet and all other equipment
  • Assisting with Plant queries and liaising with drivers and suppliers
  • Placing Purchase Orders & Hiring Operated and Non Operated Plant
  • Inspection of plant pre and post hire

Key skills/competencies:

  • Ability to build working relationships with suppliers and staff

Experience: Ideally someone who has specialist knowledge of Caterpillar and Volvo Machines however this is not essential.

Site Agent

Location: Applicants are required to be able to work throughout the North of England, and at times may occasionally be asked to work away from home.

Role: CHC are actively recruiting a Site Agent experienced in civil engineering for activities in our expanding portfolio.

As Site Agent, you’ll be required to:

  • Plan and organise labour and plant on site
  • Maintain Quality Control
  • Cost control and monitoring
  • Have a working knowledge of MS Project, maintain and update contract programmes
  • Ensure all resources are used efficiently on site
  • Maintain high safety standards
  • Keep records and maintain electronic filing system
  • IT literate and able to operate Word, Excel electronic documentation
  • Ensure the site is a safe and tidy place to work and visit
  • Manage and reduce waste
  • Project a professional image
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain client relations

Qualifications: The following qualifications/competencies are required:

  • HND/HNC or equivalent
  • Valid CSCS card
  • SMSTS qualified
  • Competent in Health and Safety practice
  • A good knowledge of Environmental Management
  • Experienced in a variety of Civil Engineering disciplines.
  • First aid at work qualified
  • Current valid driving license

Experience: The successful applicants will have at least 5 years experience as a Manager/Supervisor of staff  in general groundworks and civils works including drainage, highways, concrete, landfill, remediation, hard landscaping, pipelaying and foundations.
