Due to our on-going development, we are seeking to recruit the following professionals:

QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Location: Head Office - Bury

Role: The Quantity Surveyor will assist in the day to day financial management of allocated contracts, including procurement, monitoring and payment of nominated subcontractors. You will join an established team of Quantity Surveyors and report to the Commercial Manager.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Managing monthly cost reports, as well as forecasting cost and value accurately from commencement of a project through to completion of the project on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Submission of interim and final valuations promptly
  • Review contract progress and be proactive in addressing issues, including the issuing of relevant notices as required
  • Review all issues including providing solutions, costs and advice to ensure successful project completion
  • Ensure cash flow is maintained and provide early forecasting of any short fall
  • The procurement, placement of orders, payment, monitoring and review of subcontractors
  • Agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors

 

Skills/Experience: The successful applicant will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is commercially aware and contractually astute. They will be conversant in the NEC Suite of Contracts; FIDIC, ICC and JCT contracts. 

 

They will also be an excellent team player who is capable of working individually with a demonstrable track record of successful commercial management of civil engineering projects including major earthworks and Balance of Plant for onshore wind farms.

TRAINEE PLANT MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT MANAGER

Location: Head Office - Bury

Role: The organisation of the maintenance and hire of all Plant and equipment

Would you like to work for CHC? Have knowledge of  Caterpillar and Volvo Machines? 

We're currently looking for a Trainee Plant Maintenance & Support Manager to join our Company.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Organising the Maintenance and Servicing of the Plant fleet and all other equipment
  • Assisting with Plant queries and liaising with drivers and suppliers
  • Placing Purchase Orders & Hiring Operated and Non Operated Plant
  • Inspection of plant pre and post hire

Key skills/competencies:

  • Oral/written communication

  • Be able to problem solve
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to build working relationships with suppliers and staff

Experience: Ideally someone who has specialist knowledge of Caterpillar and Volvo Machines however this is not essential.

General Foreman

Location: Applicants are required to be able to work throughout the North of England, and at times may occasionally be asked to work away from home.

Role: CHC are actively recruiting a General Foreman experienced in civil engineering for activities in our expanding portfolio.

As General Foreman, you’ll be required to:

  • Overall day-to-day supervision of projects, assisting the Project Management Team in ensuring they are delivered safely on time and within budget.
  • Responsible for the efficient use of site labour, plant and materials to ensure timely completion of the contract.
  • Ensure that allocation sheets and site diaries are completed on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that all projects follow best practice and Company procedures/Policies with regards to Health & Safety, Environmental issues.
  • Communication of Inductions Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all site activities & assess the competence of all personnel entering the works area.
  • Daily supervision of directly employed staff, third parties, sub-contractors, technical & professional, specialists and their representatives
  • To ensure that all work is completed in accordance with the requirements of the contract.
  • IT literate and able to operate Word, Excel electronic documentation
  • Manage and reduce waste
  • Project a professional image
  • Attend monthly site health & safety meetings

Site Manager

  • Ensure all resources are used efficiently on site

  • Keep records and maintain electronic filing system
  • IT literate and able to operate Word, Excel electronic documentation
  • Ensure the site is a safe and tidy place to work and visit
  • Manage and reduce waste
  • Project a professional image
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain client relations

Qualifications: The following qualifications/competencies are required:

  • HND/HNC or equivalent
  • Valid CSCS card
  • SMSTS qualified
  • Competent in Health and Safety practice
  • A good knowledge of Environmental Management
  • Experienced in a variety of Civil Engineering disciplines.
  • First aid at work qualified
  • Current valid driving license
