CIVILS FOREMEN

Location: North West and Yorkshire

Role: We are looking for experienced Civils Foremen to strengthen our teams working on various projects throughout the North West and Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall day-to-day supervision of projects, assisting the Project Management Team in ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensure that allocation sheets are completed on a daily basis.
  • Assess the competence of all personnel entering the works area.
  • Ensure that all projects follow best practice and Company procedures/Policies with regards to Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental issues.
  • Communication of Inductions, Risk Assessments, Method Statements and daily pre start meetings for all site activities and tool box talks where required.
  • Daily supervision of third parties, sub-contractors, technical & professional, specialists and their representatives
  • Attend and participate in monthly site health & safety meetings
  • Undertake weekly site safety inspections in accordance with company policies/procedures.
  • Completion and submission of timesheets and plant returns when needed
  • To give assistance with planning and programming
  • Ensure all plant is inspected on arrival and on completion of hire and report any problems to the Plant Departmen

What you will need: The following qualifications/competencies are required:

  • Valid CSCS supervisor card/SSSTS qualification
  • First Aid at Work
  • Leadership skills and commercial awareness
  • Experience in Civil Engineering projects
  • Oral/written communication
  • Flexibility
  • Organised
  • Be able to problem solve
  • Computer literate

With experience of supervising all aspects of civil engineering projects, including earthworks, draining, concrete, piling, utilities and canal work, you will also be used to supervising site staff, labour and sub-contractors on a daily basis.

SITE ENGINEERS

Location: North West and Yorkshire

Role: We are looking for experienced Engineers to strengthen our teams working on various projects throughout the North West and Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting out to lines and levels to ensure construction of work in accordance with the Contract Drawings/Specifications or other relevant control documentation
  • Prepare and maintain work record and data sheets and ensure work is carried out in accordance with contract requirements
  • Assist Site Agents/Contract Supervisors/Contracts Managers with general contract administration
  • Complete topographical surveys and assist with setting up and monitoring of GPS on the plant equipment
  • Maintain contract management quality records as directed by Site Agent/Contracts Manager
  • Produce As-Built Drawings in accordance with Client requirements
  • Carry out site surveys for weekly/monthly measurement purposes
  • Submit processed information to Company Quantity Surveyors and Site Agents
  • Assist with the control of site activities, including sub-contractors, as directed by Site Agent/Contracts Manager
  • Ensure compliance with individual responsibilities with regard to safety, health and environmental issues, as set out in the Group Safety, Health and Environmental Policy
  • Complete daily site diary
  • Project a professional image
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team and maintain client relations

The ideal candidate: The following qualifications/competencies are required:

  • Valid CSCS card
  • Some knowledge of working with LSS or similar software.
  • Experienced in a variety of Civil Engineering disciplines
  • Oral/written communication

With experience of working in any capacity on civil engineering projects, including Earthworks, Drainage and Reinforced Concrete, you will preferably hold or be working towards a qualification in Civil Engineering.

QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Location: Yorkshire based

Role: Based out of our Doncaster office, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work on a portfolio of projects across Yorkshire. As part of an established team of Quantity Surveyors and reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will assist in the day-to-day financial management of allocated contracts, including procurement, monitoring and payment of nominated subcontractors.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Managing monthly cost reports, as well as forecasting cost and value accurately from commencement of a project through to completion of the project on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Submission of interim and final valuations promptly
  • Review contract progress and be proactive in addressing issues, including the issuing of relevant notices as required
  • Review all issues including providing solutions, costs and advice to ensure successful project completion
  • Ensure cash flow is maintained and provide early forecasting of any short fall
  • The procurement, placement of orders, payment, monitoring and review of subcontractors
  • Agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors

Skills/Experience: We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is commercially aware and contractually astute. With a working knowledge of the NEC Suite of Contracts; FIDIC, ICC and JCT contracts, you will also be an excellent team player, capable of working autonomously and with a demonstrable track record of successful commercial management of civil engineering projects.

SITE MANAGERS

Location: North West and Yorkshire

Role: We are looking for experienced Site Managers, with at least 5 years’ experience of managing/supervising staff in general groundworks and civils work including drainage, highways, reinforced concrete, remediation, and hard landscaping to work on a portfolio of projects throughout the North West and Yorkshire.

On a day-to-day basis, we will expect you to:

•    Plan and organise labour and plant on site
•    Work as part of a team and maintain client relations
•    Uphold high safety standards at all times
•    Project a professional image and lead by example
•    Maintain quality control
•    Ensure resources are used efficiently, and the site is a safe and tidy place to work and visit
•    Control costs by monitoring them weekly
•    Have a working knowledge of MS Project, maintain and update contract programmes
•    Keep records and maintain an electronic filing system
•    Be IT literate, able to use Word, Excel, and other electronic documentation
•    Manage and reduce waste

What you will need:

•    Experience in a variety of Civil Engineering disciplines
•    HND/HNC or higher
•    Valid CSCS card
•    SMSTS qualification
•    First aid at work qualification
•    Competency in Health and Safety practice
•    A good knowledge of Environmental Management
•    Current valid driving licence
