Due to our on-going development, we are seeking to recruit the following professionals:

Groundworkers

Location: North West and Yorkshire

Role: Cheetham Hill Construction, a Bury based Civil Engineering and Construction Company are looking to take on experienced Groundworkers for multiple sites all over the North West and Yorkshire.

Experience: Ideally someone who has experience and holds the following tickets:

  • CSCS Card
  • Forward Tipping Dumper
  • Ride on Roller
  • Driving Licence and vehicle

Salary:  £ dependant on experience + pension + 22 days holidays + travel / lodge allowance

Hours: Site hours may vary but around 50 hours per week – Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays

Estimator

Location: Head Office - Bury

Role: The Estimator will play a crucial role in supporting the continuous flow of new business through the Company. CHC carries out a huge variety of civil engineering and construction contracts, ranging in value from £5,000 to £15million for an increasingly broad spectrum of Clients and working as part of the Estimating Department provides exposure to all of these. You will be welcomed into a fast-paced environment, where no two jobs are the same.

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Scrutinise incoming enquiries
  • Assess all relevant technical issue
  • Carry out site visit
  • Prepare take-offs and materials schedule
  • Prepare subcontract enquiries and evaluate quotation
  • Prepare estimates and outline programmes for the costs of the works
  • Coordinate tender submissions including health and safety, environmental and quality elements
  • Submit proposals to clients
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with clients prior to contract award  
  • Participate in tender handover meetings

Skills: 

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Knowledge of Conquest estimating software and Microsoft Project
  • Necessary skills to review construction drawings and perform quantity take-offs
  • Ability to produce estimates from first principles
  • Capability to work on multiple tenders and budgets
  • Aptitude to work autonomously
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional attitude to representing the Company
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines

 

Experience: Ideally, the successful applicant will have already worked in a similar role for a civil engineering contractor, pricing works involving earthworks, concrete, drainage and remediation etc.

Site Agent

Location: Applicants are required to be able to work throughout the North of England, and at times may occasionally be asked to work away from home.

Role: CHC are actively recruiting a Site Agent experienced in civil engineering for activities in our expanding portfolio.

As Site Agent, you’ll be required to:

  • Plan and organise labour and plant on site
  • Maintain Quality Control
  • Control costs and monitor weekly
  • Have a working knowledge of MS Project, maintain and update contract programmes
  • Ensure all resources are used efficiently on site
  • Maintain high safety standards
  • Keep records and maintain electronic filing system
  • IT literate and able to operate Word, Excel electronic documentation
  • Ensure the site is a safe and tidy place to work and visit
  • Manage and reduce waste
  • Project a professional image and lead by example
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain client relations

Qualifications: The following qualifications/competencies are required:

  • HND/HNC or higher
  • Valid CSCS card
  • SMSTS qualified
  • Competent in Health and Safety practice
  • A good knowledge of Environmental Management
  • Experienced in a variety of Civil Engineering disciplines.
  • First aid at work qualified
  • Current valid driving license

Experience: The successful applicants will have at least 5 years experience as a Manager/Supervisor of staff in general groundworks and civils works including drainage, highways, reinforced concrete, remediation and hard landscaping.
