Capping and construction works to landfill Cells 13 and 14B.
Phase 1 Tipping Works - Preparation and grading of the side slope area, excavation and removal of sub-soils and existing mineral cap to provide a minimum 300mm thick cap to the existing waste at the design falls, creation of formation for the drainage geocomposite, construction of an engineered clay containment bund, installation of a geocomposite preferential drainage path (PDP) to the side slope and installation of leachate drainage pipework with stone surround to the PDP area.
Cell 13 Capping Works - Re-grading of the existing landfill profile, placement of a 300mm thick soils regulation layer, installation of a welded 1mm double textured LLDPE Geomembrane, installation of a Geotextile protection layer and placement of a 300mm thick protection layer and 700mm thick restoration layer.
Cell 14B Construction Works - Bulk excavation and filling to the basal liner and inter-cell bund area formation, placement of a 500mm thick clay liner to the basal and side-slope areas of the cell, installation of a separator geotextile over the clay liner to the base and bunds of the cell, installation of a 300mm thick granular drainage blanket to the base and intercell bunds together with installation of leachate collection pipework and construction of a leachate collection chamber, remote leachate monitoring point and target pad in the base of the cell.
