The Project
Increasing the overflow capacity of an existing reservoir and improving the stability of the earth embankment.
Works included the construction of a new 160m long reinforced concrete wave wall keyed into the existing puddle clay core of the embankment using plastic sheet piles to maintain water tightness. Construction of a 13m wide reinforced concrete spillway weir within the existing earth dam embankment including retaining walls and reinforced footings. Formation of a 60m long revetment block spillway channel was undertaken re-using site won materials. Construction of a new stabilising berm on the downstream face of the embankment together with associated drainage.
General landscaping was also carried out upon completion.
