Stop. Make a Change
Today, Cheetham Hill Construction will take part in the Civil Engineering Contractors Association's (CECA) Stop. Make a Change event.
The Company joins more than 50 organisations from across the UK’s infrastructure sector in this national stand down. Over 1000 sites, offices and production facilities will put work on hold to focus on how we can work together to build a healthier, safer industry.
Stop. Make a Change will see our sites and head office stop work for a two hour period to allow employees and subcontractors time to discuss some of the challenges we face and how they can best be overcome.
This year, the campaign will focus on four key issues: respiratory illness, plant safety, fatigue and mental health and the Company is undertaking a number of initiatives across the business. The campaign is fully supported by the Company’s Directors and we aim to gain some valuable feedback from our employees.
All organisations involved in Stop. Make a Change will provide feedback on how the commitments they have made have impacted upon their business, with best practice shared between all contributing organisations later this year.
CECA chief executive Alasdair Reisner said: "When we first started planning Stop. Make a Change we hoped that we might get up to 10 companies and a few thousand employers involved in this first year. The response from industry has been tremendous, with a real desire to use the event as an opportunity to deliver positive change across the sector. We are looking forward to events today and the health, safety and wellbeing improvements that they will drive."
