CHC starts work on new station platform for East Lancs Railway
Cheetham Hill Construction has commenced work on the construction of a new station platform at Burrs Country Park in Bury on behalf of East Lancs Railway.
This will become the railway's seventh calling point and when open, the station will enable visitors to the country park to board steam and diesel train services to Heywood, Bury, Summerseat, Ramsbottom, Irwell Vale and Rawtenstall.
Work is expected to be completed in September and the station will be fully operational by spring 2017.
The Chairman of the East Lancs Railway said "the construction of a new station in the heart of Burrs Country Park is an exciting opportunity to attract more visitors into the park by train. I am delighted we are working with Cheetham Hill Construction, a local Bury company, who were also very helpful in designing an affordable solution".
