Widnes Future Flower begins to bloom
15 Nov 2009
Cheetham Hill Construction has commenced work on the Widnes Future Flower, a 15m high wind powered flower on the banks of the River Mersey for client Halton Borough Council. The work forms part of the ongoing Widnes Waterfront Regeneration Programme.
This is another unique and exciting project for the Company to be involved with in the role of Principal Contractor. Designed by award winning architect Tonkin Liu as part of an international design competition, when completed the flower's metallic petals will flutter in the wind and will be illuminated in a range of different colours depending on the wind's strength and direction.
The project is currently in the early stages and due for completion in March 2010.
