The Project

Design and construction of Waste Transfer facilities incorporating weighbridges an associated office and external ancillary works.

Works included site preparation and clearance, earthworks, abandonment of mine-workings, foul and surface water drainage works including gullies, manholes and ducting and all mechanical and electrical design and installation.

Incorporating the construction of a 3500m2 portal steel framed and clad WTS building, PCC push walls and concrete bunker walls. RC external hardstanding, two weighbridges and office building and all access roads.

Installation of new MCC, sub-station and LV switch room, site wide lighting, sprinkler system, odour control services, CCTV & security systems,  water and fire mains, telephone, water, electrical services, fire hydrants, barriers, handrailing/guardrailing and fencing together with hard and soft landscaping. 

Site remediation including geo-physical surveys, drilling, grouting and capping of mine workings was also carried out.

The site location was wholly within the boundaries of an existing operational Waste Transfer Station, which required extensive third party liaison, management and co-operation of operational staff, adjacent landowners and statutory bodies.
