The Project

Balance of Plant Contract - engineering, design, construction and installation of civil infrastructure and electrical design, with the exception of the turbines at Marr Wind Farm, Doncaster.

The wind farm comprises four wind turbines together with a switchgear and metering building, one permanent anemometry mast and associated electrical infrastructure. The turbine generators are a maximum height of 125m above ground level and accessed by approximately 2km of new tracks.

Extensive third party management was undertaken by CHC to facilitate the project and included close liaison with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council regarding access routes to and from the site for the turbine components transportation, required highway improvements to access/egress the site itself and discharging of the Planning Consent conditions.

Other interfaces included landowners and ecological parties, turbine manufacturer, Yorkshire Electrical Distribution Limited (YEDL) and the Client.

Now fully operational, Marr Wind Farm has an installed capacity of up to 12MW and generates enough power to meet the energy requirements of up to 6,700 homes.
